Street and working children are motivated and given remedial help to continue their regular schooling. After one year of study in the transit school, which re-orientates, particularly the school dropouts, the children on the need for and the necessity of schooling, the children are sent to regular schools run by the government agencies in the neighbouring villages. Here the children study from 2nd to 10th standard.

The boys above 14 years of age are in the vocational training center section. Boys who cannot study in a regular school but are interested in learning a technical skill are given training in the vocational training center section.

These boys are looked after completely by the Salesians. Some of them are really violent when they enter this institution, but slowly they are guided by the Salesians through counseling and guidance to see eye to eye the real world before them, a world that is really not hostile to them.

The non – formal technical institute is also within our campus. This technical institute provides five courses. They are Carpentry, Welding, Tailoring, Electrician and Motor Mechanic. Ten boys are admitted to each of these courses. There are five trained instructors to teach them. These boys are given one-hour of theory class and four hours of practical. They learn by doing and this gives them a chance for practical experience.

In fact they learn their trade proper with much enthusiasm because they know that what they learn is for their livelihood. Besides these five courses, the institute also has a water service center. Here the motor mechanic hoys are given training to water service the vehicles of different models. The water service center is an income generation programme, which is slowly picking up now.
